Garlic Mashed Green Banana (Jamaican Green Banana Mash)
Jerk Tavern
Creamy garlic mashed green bananas made Jamaican style with garlic, butter, herbs, and Caribbean seasoning. This flavorful and healthy side dish is easy to make, naturally gluten-free, and pairs perfectly with your favorite island meals.
Cut off both ends of the green bananas. Carefully slice the peel lengthwise and remove the skin. Green bananas can stain your hands, so you may want to rub your hands with oil first or wear gloves.
Step 2: Boil the Bananas
Place the peeled bananas into a large pot and cover with water. Add salt and boil for about 15-20 minutes or until fork tender.
Drain the boiled bananas and place them into a bowl. Add the garlic mixture, milk or coconut milk, and seasonings. Mash until creamy using a potato masher or fork.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
Top with fresh parsley and extra melted butter if desired. Serve warm.
