White Rice is a staple in Jamaican culture and throughout the Caribbean. White rice is the perfect side dish every county and culture in the world has its spin on how they make rice. There is so much you can do with rice and white rice. Basic white rice is simple and easy to make.
To a bowl add rice, wash rice to remove any unwanted things from the rice by washing it.
Rinse the rice under cold running water, then repeat the process. Do it again until the water is clear. Put the rice, salt, margarine, and 1 cup of water into a medium-sized pot. Stir with a fork, cover, and bring to a boil over high heat.
When the water dries out the pot, turn the heat all the way down to low. Let the rice steam for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, take the lid off the pot, and give the rice a taste. If any grains are still firm, add a splash more water to the pot, then return the lid and steam the rice for another 10 minutes.
The rice should be done after 10 minutes. Just before serving, fluff the rice with a fork.
