Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread flour or regular
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup coconut milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)

For Finishing

  • 2-3 tbsp melted butter

Instructions
 

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

  • In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Step 2: Mix the Dough

  • In a stand mixer bowl, add flour, salt, egg, coconut milk, and the yeast mixture. Mix on low speed using a dough hook.

Step 3: Knead Until Smooth

  • Add softened butter and knead for 8–10 minutes until the dough is smooth, soft, and slightly tacky.

Step 4: First Rise

  • Cover and let the dough rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

Step 5: Shape the Dough

  • Divide into 8 pieces, roll into balls, flatten into ovals, brush lightly with butter, and fold in half.

Step 6: Second Rise

  • Let rest for 20–30 minutes until slightly puffed.

Step 7: Bake

  • Bake at 350°F for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.

Step 8: Brush with Butter

  • Brush immediately with melted butter for a soft, shiny finish.
