How to Make Herbed Unleavened Bread

This unleavened bread recipe is super easy and delicious! Unleavened bread is also known as "flatbread" because of its often flattened appearance. Unleavened loaves of bread are often eaten during religious festivals and holidays such as Passover. Unleavened bread is a type of bread that's made without any artificial or chemical leavening agents. This means that the dough does not contain any yeast, baking soda, or baking powder. The lack of leavening agents results usually in a denser texture, but not always.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp dried Thyme
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • ½ cup water or more if needed

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl infuse oil, salt, oregano, and thyme.
  • Combine oil and water with the dry ingredients until the mixture forms a dough.
  • Knead the dough for about 3 minutes, until it forms a smooth ball.
  • Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each one into a ball.
  • Roll each piece of dough out
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook each dough round one at a time for 2 minutes per side (4 minutes in all), or until they appear golden brown.
