Wisdom
As believers in Christ Jesus, it’s always good to be around like-minded believers. To give each other words of encouragement and to help each other to grow in the wisdom and knowledge of our God. In this world, they say you are the company you keep. If you hang out with doctors, chances are you’re a doctor.
When you hang out with people who love to play sports chances are you love to play sports. If you hang out with thieves chances are you’re a thief and so on. Darkness cannot mix with light, and if we are children of the light we must hang out with other children of the light. If we hang around non-believers we can find ourselves starting to abandon our faith as well. We find ourselves going back into our old sins and our old ways because they will encourage us to do the things we used to do before we came into the light.
There’s nothing wrong with hanging out once in a while, or ever so often, but just be mindful of the friends that you keep, and the amount of time you spend with them. For we must love no one more than we love Jesus and spend our time in His word. We must also be willing to abandon anyone for Him even give up our own lives for His namesake and the gospels. Keep Jesus and his word around always. He is the light. He is the best company we can keep. His words will always sharpen your countenance because they leave us with reassurance and in the end, eternal life.
