Jamaican Fried Dumplings also known as “Jonny Cakes” is beautifully golden and crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. It's simple and easy to make fried dumplings. Just a few ingredients you already have in your pantry! You can have these for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Ingredients
3cupsof all-purpose flour
1Tspof salt
2tbspof baking powder
1 1/2tbspof granulated sugar
2tbspof butter
1cupcold wateradd more if needed
Instructions
To a bowl add flour sugar, salt, baking powder, and butter. Use your fingers to the butter and get it evenly distributed throughout the flour the texture of the dough should be like crumbs. Then add the water and knead it properly until you get a proper dough. (The dough should be a bit sticky but not wet)
Cover the dough for ½ an hour to 24 hours with a damp paper towel (take it out to thaw at room temp a few hours before frying).
Heat the oil in a large Dutch pot and roll it into individual round pieces.
Place the shaped dough into the heated oil (make sure to test the oil with a piece of dough too. Make sure the oil is not too hot) and fry for about ten minutes (5mins on each side) or until golden brown.
