The Best Ground Beef Jerk Taco Ever
Tacos are so easy to cook and fun to eat. Because you can you can add any toppings you want to your taco, you can be as creative as you please. Taco Tuesday or Thursday is a staple in our home. Tacos is one of the dishes that we love to make on those lazy days when you just don’t feel like cooking; but it’s super quick to whip up. We use jerk seasoning in everything we cook and it definitely took this taco to the next level. Our beef taco recipe is super easy to make but the flavors are mind blowing.
How to cook/brown beef for tacos?
Cooking your ground beef is pretty easy. The simplicity of cooking ground beef is why we love to use it in tacos. After you have seasoned your ground beef, add your oil to the pot. Add the beef and let it brown for at least 5mins without touching the meat. This gives it a nice sear. The leaner the meat the more it will brown. So typically 80-90% lean beef is the best .Note: Do not take the meat directly out of the fridge then add it to the pot because it will spring too much juice which will affect the Browning of the meat. For best results let the beef sit at room temperature for 12-15 mins
Can other types of meat or vegetables be used?
Normally we like to use gardien beefless ground but for this taco we went with ground beef on this one. Here are some other ground beef substitutes for tacos; chicken, pork, steak, or ground turkey. The vegetarian options you can use are firm tofu, sweet potatoes, zucchini and butternut squash. And there are so many more other options out there to best fit your diet. Just choose the best option for you and your household.
What kind of shell is used for tacos?
There are many kinds of shells and what you choose for your taco is all about preference. There are hard taco shells, soft taco shells, Indian tacos, puffy tacos, yellow taco shells, and the list goes on. But we love the flat yellow corn shells. They are made with 100% whole grain corn for superior flavor and quality. Also, yellow taco shells are gluten-free.
What to put in your tacos?
We like to keep our tacos very simple, But some key ingredients we can’t miss in our tacos are black beans. Normally we use spinach as our leafy green, but for this taco recipe we choose to use the purple cabbage. It was a first for us and we definitely didn’t regret it because it really took our taco to the next dimension!! The crunchiness of the cabbage and the vinegar, lime and sugar dressing on the cabbage hit it out of the park. Of course, cheese is a must as well as tomatoes. Regularly, we always have avocados, jalapeños, and corn in our ground beef but we switched it up and it was very rewarding to taste all the different flavors in this taco. What does it truly mean to repent? To repent means to turn away from something(sin) and never do it again. Is it hard to just completely turn away from things that we have been doing for almost all our lives? Yes, yes it is but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Sometimes even us a Christians fall off sometimes and we also mess up, because there is none that is perfect but Christ and we all fall short. But true Christians realize that nothing is worth risking our salvation. And we want all to come to this realization that the real meaning of life is to find God. We all try to find that “thing” that makes us “feel” fulfilled and at peace in life whether it’s in money, love, drugs, sex, success and so much more….But, we can all see that those things are a temporary fix, Because if those things made us feel full filled why do many rich people commit suicide? Why can nothing that the world has to offer full that void you feel inside? That’s because what your truly seeking in this life, is Christ(God) only he can give you that peace that surpasses all understanding. So repent and turn away from your sins and turn to Christ now before it is too late.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs of lean Ground Beef 80-90% lean
- 1 tsp of Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tsp of Paprika
- 1 tsp of Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp of Oregano
- 1 tsp of Onion Powder
- 1 tsp of Black Pepper
- 1 tsp of Adobo
- 1 tsp of Complete Seasoning
- 1 tbsp of Jerk Seasoning
- 1 tsp of Minced Garlic
- 1 tsp of Green Seasoning optional
- 1 tsp of Browning
- 1/4 cup of Sweet Pepper
- 1/4 cup of Raw Onions
- 1/4 cup of Olive Oil
- 1 can of Black bean
- 1/3 cup of Ketchup
- 1 tsp of Sugar
- 1 tsp of Honey BBQ Sauce
- Yellow Corn Hard Taco Shells or any other shell of your liking
- Toppings Ingredients
- 2 to matoes
- Garlic Aioli optional but so good
- Cheese of your choice
Dressing for cabbage
- 1/2 of a Cabbage
- 1 whole lime
- 1/4 cup of vinegar
- 3 tbsp of sugar
Instructions
- Rinse off beef with just water to get excess blood off (optional)
- Add all your seasonings (Cayenne,paprika,jerk seasoning, Browning,ect..)
- Rub all of your seasoning into the ground beef then leave it in the fridge for 15-30 mins. (make sure when you take it out of the fridge you let it sit for 12-15 mins)
- Add the Olive Oil to your pot. When the pot is hot add your ground beef (allow it to brown, don’t touch it for 3-5 mins)
- Stir it after 10 mins
- Add water if necessary
- Now it’s time to add in those sweet peppers, Onions,Black Beans, your Ketchup, your Sugar, BBQ Sauce
- Now give that a stir
- Let that simmer for 10 more minutes. In the mean time, it’s time to make your Cabbage and cut up your tomatoes
Cabbage Instructions
- Cut your cabbage in half
- Use a knife or chopper to cut your cabbage into very small pieces (see how small in video below)
- Rinse your cabbage off
- Now it’s time to make the cabbage dressing
- In a small bowl add the vinegar, 3 tbsp of water and sugar, taste it to see if it’s sweet/tangy to your liking.
- Add the mixture to the cabbage
- Add 1 whole lime to the cabbage
- Mix it all together
- Turn off your beef
