How do you make waffle batter from scratch?
To make waffle batter from scratch, you will combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, you’ll combine coconut milk and milk, oil, and rum(optional), vanilla extract. Then you’ll slowly combine the dry ingredients into the bowl of wet ingredients. After that, your batter is ready for your waffle iron!
Coconut Rum Waffle Ingredients
These waffles couldn’t be easier to make and odds are you already have the ingredients in your kitchen!
- All-purpose flour
- Granulated sugar– Aids in sweetness but not overly sweet.
- Baking powder and baking soda help the waffles rise and brown. For the lightest waffles, we recommend using both.
- Sugar and salt help the waffles taste great. Honestly, it’s up to preference when it comes to sugar and salt.
- Nutmeg- Perfect spice in the waffle
- Cinnamon Powder- nice spice to add to any waffle recipe
- Canola oil is our go-to fat for these waffles. We have tried melted butter, and while it does add a buttery flavor, we prefer the texture with oil. You can experiment with this yourself; simply use the same amount of melted butter as the oil called for in the recipe.
- Coconut Milk and Milk are the liquid in the batter. The combination of milk and coconut milk takes your pallets to the next level. That coconut flavor tastes incredible.
- Vanilla extract- Always adds an amazing flavor.
- Jamaican White Rum- Made with sugar cane as one of the ingredients in this rum it has hints of subtle sweetness. The rum is not overpowering and you will not get drunk. (optional)

Are pancake and waffle mixes the same?
While they are comparable, the pancake and waffle mix are not the same. Waffle batter has more sugar so it caramelizes plus more fat that gives it a crispier exterior than pancakes. But we have used store-bought pancake mix as waffle mix before and it comes out good.
Does pancake mix work for waffles
To use your pancake mix to make waffles, you’ll need to add a little extra oil to use it as a waffle recipe. Here’s the formula: For every cup of dry pancake mix, just add 2 extra tablespoons of oil
Do you use vegetable or olive oil for waffles?
Can you use olive oil for the waffle mix? Olive oil can be used in place of vegetable oil. But, olive oil has a relatively intense flavor that can overwhelm waffles. So, unless you’re using a waffle recipe with a strong flavor, We wouldn’t recommend using olive oil (unless you have to)

How to Store and Reheat Waffles
How to Store Leftover Waffles
Let your waffles cool completely first. Then you can put them in containers or freezer bags. They’ll be good for up to 2 weeks in the fridge. Cool completely before storing in freezer bags or containers. They will keep up to two weeks in the refrigerator, and up to four-six months in the freezer.
Can You Freeze Waffles?
Of course! And you’ll feel better about giving them to your kids than those store-bought ones. Wrapped properly in a freezer bag, you can keep them for about 6 months.
How to Reheat Frozen Waffles
If you have a toaster oven, just pop them in and set them to light or medium. But watch out! These will be easier to burn. You can also pop them in the microwave, but the toaster, or even the regular oven, is a better option and will make sure you have golden brown crispy waffles and not soggy ones.

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, who bore witness to the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.” Revelation 1:1-3 NKJV
Wisdom
Revelation is one of the most powerful books in the Bible. It is a book of prophecy. Things that are to happen to this world in the times to come. It was written by Jesus’ chosen apostle John, who not only walked with Jesus but saw His death, burial and resurrection.
This book was a vision he received from Jesus, that he wrote and sent to the churches back then, and now we all have access to it. It’s sad to say but very few people have read this book. There is even a fear of this book by some people who simply don’t want to read it. Some pastors don’t even want to preach revelation and it’s so sad.
But as believers, we must read the entire Bible for ourselves. We must do our studies and readings through the power of the Holy Spirit. For He is our teacher and not man alone. As it says in verse 3, blessed is he who reads and hears the words of this prophecy, and keeps the things written. Jesus allowed us all to know through this book, what will happen before His return for a reason.
I believe that reason is so we could all repent, and come to Him fully before He does. He is giving us all time to make the right decision and follow Him. For if the book of revelation comes to pass then we have another confirmation that He is alive and well. For He is God and He does not lie. He is the prophet of prophets and I’m here to tell you all that revelation is already jumping off the pages of the Bible and coming into real life.
It is becoming a reality. I pray all believers everywhere to read this book and keep the things written, because we need to keep watch, so we are not overtaken as a thief in the night. But we trust in revelation, knowing that the things written are true and we will know what will happen next in this world. So we stay prepared and ready for the coming of our Messiah, Yeshua, Jesus Christ our LORD.
