What Makes a Snickerdoodle a Snickerdoodle
Snickerdoodle’s are a type of sugar cookie made from butter, sugar, salt, flour, and eggs. Most snickerdoodle recipes (not this one) contain cream of tartar as the leavening agent.
What is the cream of Tartar?
Cream of tartar gives a traditional tangy taste and adds to the chewiness of the cookie: is a common baking ingredient. It’s an acidic powder. It helps stabilize eggs and cream in baked goods. Cream of tartar gives a slight, pleasant tanginess to the dough. With this recipe, you will get that same taste you love without cream of tartar whether you just don’t have it on hand or are not a fan of using the ingredient.
Do I need cream of tartar to make snickerdoodles?
No! A perfect cream of tartar substitute is baking powder. If you don’t like the taste of cream of tartar then opt for the baking powder.
The difference between a sugar cookie and a snickerdoodle
Snickerdoodles are sometimes confused with sugar cookies since they share the same basic ingredients – flour, butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. However, there is one distinctive ingredient that a snickerdoodle has that a sugar cookie doesn’t, and that is a cream of tartar. But like us if you do not have this cream of tartar or simply just do not like the flavor. Then just use baking powder.
So, if you’re looking for a traditional snickerdoodle recipe, use a cream of tartar. But if you just want a delicious cookie and don’t care about the old-fashioned taste, feel free to just substitute the cream of tartar with the baking powder!

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” II Corinthians 7:10 NKJV
Wisdom
Repentance is a gift from God. Repenting is something we must do every day for we all are sinners in need of Jesus. Ask Him for forgiveness so he can remember our sin no more. It is a form of humbleness. Admitting that we are wrong and the sins that we commit are wrong. We all live lives of sin but once we come to God and when we understand sin against Him we feel sorrowful.
The Holy Spirit will lead us to repent and turn away from our sin and our former selves which will lead to salvation. We have to humble ourselves. Sin is going against God’s rules. If we love him we will keep his commandments and when we break them we will repent and try our absolute best never to let it happen again.
We must try our best to walk in fear of Him and keep his commandments. That is our whole duty. The world hates Him. So once we walk in his commandments we will be hated also. But why be sorrowful if the world hates you? Our job is to please our God and not this world.
This world is filled with sin and sin separates us from God and will surely lead to death. Jesus has the keys to death and hell. He decides who makes it into heaven, or goes to hell. He is the ultimate judge of our souls. Humble yourself. Repent for your sins and believe in the Gospel. Fear God, because Jesus is the only one who can save us from Death.
