Why do you fry/brown meatballs before putting in sauce?
Brown them first, then let them finish cooking in the marinara sauce.This results in a nice texture on the outside of the meatball but keeps it juicy and moist inside. It also adds more flavor to the tomato sauce.
Spaghetti and Meatballs Ingredients:
- Meatballs –Ground Lamb is amazing for this recipe!
- Pasta Sauce – You can use any kind of pasta sauce you enjoy. We like garlic and basil pasta sauce, more flavor with less effort.
- Spaghetti Noodles – Any kind you like, whole wheat, regular, anything.
- Colby Jack Cheese-Who doesn’t love a cheesy pasta
Tips & Notes
- Boil your pasta in salted water, complete seasoning and reserve some of that pasta water at the end! Add a bit of pasta water to your sauce for some flavor as well as starch that will help the noodles to bind to the sauce.
- If you ever have issues with the pasta sticking to each other while boiling, make sure to add some oil to your water then stir frequently, especially at the start.
- Instead of homemade sauce, you can also use pre-made marinara sauce which is what we did. Makes cooking faster.
How to Make Spaghetti and Lamb Meatballs

Step 1
Season meat then Roll and compress into tight balls.
Step 2
Brown the meatballs:
Brown meatballs on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes

Boil spaghetti
- Bring salted water in it to a boil and When the water returns to a boil add the pasta to the pot.
- Step 4
- Make Sauce: Pour marinara sauce in the pot add ketchup and seasoning.
- Step 5
- Add meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5 -7 minutes. Now Add the spaghetti then stir well.
- Step 6
- Add cheese mixture and serve

Spaghetti and Lamb Meatball
Ingredients
Meatballs Ingredients
- Ground lamb
- 1/4 cup of Raw Onion
- 1 tbsp of finely chopped scotch bonnet pepper
- 1 tbsp of complete seasoning
- 1 tbsp of oregano
- 1 tbsp of garlic powder
- 1 tbsp of black pepper
- 1 tsp of jerk seasoning
- 1 tbsp of minced garlic
Sauce Ingredients
- 1 bottle Marinara sauce
- 1 tsp of complete season
- 1 tsp of pepper flakes
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp of adobo
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 cup of Colby Jack Cheese
- Spaghetti
Instructions
- * Form the meatballs: In a large bowl, mix by hand the ground lamb, scotch bonnet (optional) onion and dry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Roll and compress into tight balls. Brown the meatballs: In a separate wide, shallow pan, heat the olive oil on medium-high heat. Brown meatballs on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes. Depending on pan size you may need to brown two batches of the meatballs. Cook them in a single layer; do not crowd the pan by stacking them. Do not overcook the meatballs; they will continue to cook in the sauce. You just want to brown them on all sides.
- * Cook the spaghetti:
- * Bring salted water in it to a boil (1 tablespoon of salt, 3 tbsp of oil, and 3 tbsp of complete seasoning When the water returns to a boil add the pasta to the pot.
- * Leave the pot uncovered while you cook the pasta on high. Cook the pasta on high heat. Put a timer on for 8 to 10 minutes, or according to package directions for al dente pasta (cooked but still a little firm). Then Drain.
- * Make Sauce: Pour marinara sauce in the pot add ketchup and Complete seasoning, red pepper flakes, adobo, oregano.
- * When the sauce is bubbling add meatballs to the pot. Simmer for 5 minutes. Then add the spaghetti.
- * Add Colby jack cheese. Give it a nice mix and it time to serve
